A study on the false positive rate of Stegdetect
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we analyse Stegdetect, one of the well-known image steganalysis tools, to study its false positive rate. In doing so, we process more than 40,000 images randomly downloaded from the Internet using Google images, together with 25,000 images from the ASIRRA (Animal Species Image Recognition for Restricting Access) public corpus. The aim of this study is to help digital forensic analysts, aiming to study a large number of image files during an investigation, to better understand the capabilities and the limitations of steganalysis tools like Stegdetect. The results obtained show that the rate of false positives generated by Stegdetect depends highly on the chosen sensitivity value, and it is generally quite high. This should support the forensic expert to have better interpretation in their results, and taking the false positive rates into consideration. Additionally, we have provided a detailed statistical analysis for the obtained results to study the difference in detection between selected groups, close groups and different groups of images. This method can be applied to any steganalysis tool, which gives the analyst a better understanding of the detection results, especially when he has no prior information about the false positive rate of the tool. a 2013 Elsevier Ltd. متن کاملبررسی تاثیر نوع زایمان و زمان غربالگری بر نتایج آزمون غربالگری شنوایی نوزادان با استفاده از آزمون گسیل های صوتی گوش
Background and purpose: False positive in newborn hearing screening increases cost and maternal anxiety. We aimed to evaluate the effect of mode of delivery and screening age on false positive result of first screening test. Identifying and controlling these factors could reduce the rate of false positive tests. Materials and methods: In this study, 2784 infants were evaluated by otoacoustic...
متن کاملThe prevalence of adverse obstetric outcomes follow of an abnormal maternal serum AFP and NTDs screen positive group
Introduction: Prenatal maternal serum AFP screening tests have some inherent false positive and false negative results. For NTDs Screening test (FTS) false positive rate (FPR) is about 1% and false negative rate (FNR) is 20%. A false positive result encourages by Anomaly scan and invasive diagnostic procedures (that poses lots of stress on women, too), while a false negative result lead to a N...

Abstract False positive results are the major problem influencing interpretation of Clinical Laboratory test. They are originated mostly in the other diseases, technical errors and the recent vaccination. The problem has been presented since 1991 is positive HIV test after influenza Vaccination (1). The False positive has been reported in Cases using Eliza, one of The most common test to screen...
متن کاملThe False Discovery Rate in Simultaneous Fisher and Adjusted Permutation Hypothesis Testing on Microarray Data
Background and Objectives: In recent years, new technologies have led to produce a large amount of data and in the field of biology, microarray technology has also dramatically developed. Meanwhile, the Fisher test is used to compare the control group with two or more experimental groups and also to detect the differentially expressed genes. In this study, the false discovery rate was investiga...
